Installing CPVC in Five Minutes

In the next five minutes, you’ll understand the basics of CPVC, the non-metallic solution to your fire safety challenges. You’ll also learn just how fast and easy pipes and fittings are to install, where installation has successfully taken place and what you need to do to start making the most of it.

CPVC vs Steel

CPVC is the most specified non-metallic fire sprinkler material in the world. Its resistance to fire protects the flow of water on the inside of the pipe, allowing for long term performance at high pressures, even with thinner pipe and fittings. In fact, CPVC pipe and fitting compounds have achieved classification of Bs1d0 - the highest rating a plastic material can achieve.

Do What Others Can’t: Installing CPVC

You may be very used to installing steel pipe using a variety of heat and cutting tools. However, CPVC eliminates the need for hot works or even a power supply, as the pipe and fittings bond using solvent cement. If used properly, this straightforward process allows you to create a strong cohesive bond in less time than it takes to read this blog.

BlazeMaster CPVC pipe and fittings is always working to develop new ways to bring fast, efficient fire safety to installers; for example, the Tyco Rapid Seal Adapter and Viking Instaseal Sprinkler Head Adapter are also made from the same CPVC compound as the pipe, and is installed in three simple steps; simply cut, apply solvent cement and assemble, without the need for brass or lead fittings, or sealant.

The cold installation process allows for minimal disruption; especially important in occupancies for vulnerable people and always important when working to tight schedules. You can safely install a BlazeMaster sprinkler in any room, while ordinary domestic life continues safely in the next room.

BlazeMaster’s Success with CPVC

As of November 26th, installation of fire sprinkler systems and consistent wayfinding signage in all new high-rise blocks of flats over 11 metres tall will become law across the UK. Since 2016, all new builds in Wales have been fitted with mandatory sprinklers and Scotland are expected to follow Wales’ example in 2021.

As the legislation for mandatory sprinkler systems in all occupancies continues to grow in the UK, it’s important to show your regulators why BlazeMaster CPVC is already a success story.

BlazeMaster CPVC was chosen to be part of a major £18 million renovation and expansion project in Hampshire, at Park Community School. Over 900 sprinkler heads were installed, many of which during school hours while lessons were underway. Meanwhile, BlazeMaster fire protection systems have also been retrofitting existing structures, such as Callow Mount tower block in Sheffield, supported by the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association (BAFSA). In this case, installation took as little as one day per flat to complete.
