BlazeMaster® Fire Protection Systems Chosen For Major School Project

When the decision was made to rebuild and expand the Park Community School in Hampshire, U.K., school and fire safety officials wanted the new buildings to have the best possible fire sprinkler systems. Seeking a material that is affordable and widely available, as well as easy to install, they chose BlazeMaster® Fire Sprinkler Systems.

Why BlazeMaster Fire Sprinkler Systems for a School Project?

Due to much of the work occuring while Park Community School was in session, builders needed a material that was flexible and able to accommodate design changes after installation.

“BlazeMaster Fire Sprinkler Systems were chosen for those reasons,” said Colin Taylor, head of the Oxfordshire office for Domestic Sprinklers, which has operations throughout England. “We believe it’s the easiest medium to work with and it allows design flexibility.”

Being self-insured, Hampshire County Council chose the option of high-performing BlazeMaster Fire Sprinkler Systems over more expensive steel alternatives.

BlazeMaster CPVC Offers Fast And Flexible Installation

Work on the large project began in late 2014 and was completed in summer 2015. By using BlazeMaster Fire Sprinkler Systems, it made it easier for the team of contractors to meet project deadlines and stay on budget.

Due to many changes throughout the process, Taylor explained “The amount of changes forced upon us during the installation process would have resulted in very high additional costs if BlazeMaster had not been used.”

The project included several multiple-story buildings and required over 900 sprinkler heads. By using BlazeMaster Fire Sprinkler Systems on such a broad range of work, it saved valuable time and reduced labor costs. And with much of the work being done while school was in session, contractors had to minimize disruptions.

“The nice thing about BlazeMaster Fire Sprinkler Systems is the installation can be a one-man job. Meaning on-site engineers can focus on their own areas, as the material is lighter than steel….we used all hand tools and we didn’t need any noisy threading machines. It also meant we could start and stop work in certain areas more easily than if we had been using steel...I would 100% recommend BlazeMaster Fire Sprinkler Systems to other contractors for school projects,” Taylor said.

Better Results With BlazeMaster

Less than half of the required academic buildings in the U.K. have fire sprinkler systems installed and remain non-compliant with national guidance. This could be a result of many countries having limited public funding to address these issues with costly steel fire sprinkler systems.

This has led many countries, like Hampshire, to turn to BlazeMaster Fire Sprinkler Systems to provide reliable fire protection that’s affordable and widely available. With a combination of a diverse line of products and decades of experience, BlazeMaster can assist in the development of cost-effective, high performing alternatives to steel fire sprinkler systems.
