Where Can BlazeMaster® CPVC Be Used?

BlazeMaster® Fire Protection Systems is the most specified nonmetallic fire sprinkler system in the world for a variety of reasons, including affordability, ease of installation and long-term durability. Equally important, BlazeMaster CPVC pipe and fittings are fully certified for use in light hazard and residential occupancies.

Wide Commercial Applications

Light hazard occupancies include facilities where the potential for fire is relatively low based on the amount and type of materials located there. It is assumed that a fire would likely develop at a slow pace with relatively low levels of heat. Keep in mind that if a fire occurs, BlazeMaster CPVC won’t sustain a flame and limits smoke generation.

Based on these attributes, BlazeMaster CPVC is approved for the following types of structures, with some restrictions:

  • Schools, colleges and other educational institutions
  • Offices, excluding storerooms
  • Hotels, excluding kitchens, plant and storerooms
  • Hospitals, excluding kitchens, plant, store and laundry rooms
  • Museums, excluding storerooms
  • Libraries, excluding areas which plastic materials are stored and stock rooms
  • Court rooms
  • Nursing homes
  • Data processing rooms
  • Prisons
  • Churches
  • Restaurant dining areas
  • Attics, without storage

BlazeMaster CPVC is also ideal for commercial projects because of its cost advantages and ease of installation. When Hampshire County Council planned to include a fire sprinkler system during a school expansion project, it chose BlazeMaster CPVC as a more affordable option in terms of both material costs and the labour needed for installation. BlazeMaster CPVC was also a natural choice because it’s easier to work with – and less disruptive to install – than steel. Because the process is quiet and requires less labour on-site, much of the work was done while school was in session. Work was completed on deadline and within the budget.

Protecting Families

BlazeMaster CPVC is also a popular choice for a range of multifamily facilities including high-rise tower blocks, flats, student residence housing and residential hotels. For instance, BlazeMaster CPVC was chosen for a retrofit project at the Callow Mount high-rise in Sheffield. Installation time per flat averaged just one day, which meant none of the residents needed to relocate.

Key certifications include Standard for Fixed Firefighting Systems – Automatic Sprinkler Systems – Design, installation and maintenance BS EN 12845, BS9251 and the LPS1260.

It’s a great choice for single-family homes. BlazeMaster CPVC was chosen for a new housing development after Wales implemented new requirements for installation of automatic fire sprinkler systems in residential buildings. BlazeMaster CPVC’s ease of installation simplified the process of accommodating other building systems and features and kept the project on schedule and on budget.
