Strong Market Demand Provides Properly Certified & Trained Fire Protection System Installers Opportunity for Growth
Fire sprinkler system fitters across the nation are seeing a surge in business as the demand for retrofitting sprinkler systems in medium-rise and high-rise tower blocks as well as single family homes continues to grow.
Active tower block and other housing fire sprinkler retrofits are taking place or are under consideration in Wandsworth Borough, Birmingham, and Bristol. With more than 4,000 tower blocks nationwide and just more than 1,000 having been or undergoing retrofit, the spike in demand is obvious.
Housing authorities and local authorities are looking for experience and credentials in awarding contracts. With this in mind, now is the time to seek third party training and accreditation.
Third Party Certification Schemes
The list of training for accreditation is growing. Here are several schemes:
- The FIRAS installer certification scheme from Warringtonfire offers certification for residential or industrial sprinkler systems, is among several other protection schemes (as listed by UKAS, United Kingdom Accreditation Services)
- IFC Certification Limited (as listed by UKAS)
- British Research Establishment (BRE Group) Loss Prevention Certification Board (LCPB) standards and certification (as listed by UKAS)
- Xact Fire Safety and Fire Engineering Sprinkler Courses
- British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association
Contact any of the respective groups for schedules and training, as well as any potential costs.
Taking the Next Step - Manufacturer Training
BlazeMaster® Fire Protection Systems CPVC piping and fitting have performed trouble-free for many years and have a global reputation for quality. In the United Kingdom, BlazeMaster products are available only from our manufacturing partners, Tyco/Johnson Controls and Viking. BlazeMaster systems should only be installed by certified fire protection system installers.
They also offer their own specific in-person training courses, available only to accredited installers.
I believe that you’ll find the effort well worth it and that earning accreditation will open doors that may have been closed to you before.
Giving yourself an edge – installation accreditation and product/brand-specific training –tells the respective authorities up front that you’re qualified to do the job, helping to protect their tenants and properties.
