When a well-known commercial building, Sarla Park, needed to upgrade their existing fire protection system, they were in search of a long-lasting solution. Sarla Park Project Details
Built in 1989, Sarla Park is a G+4 storeyed multi-tenanted commercial building located at Mumbai (Andheri East). The building is occupied by multiple offices, which usually work 5 days a week. As per local fire rules prevalent in 1989, the building was protected by an external and internal fire hydrant system only. Subsequently, with changes in local fire safety rules, as well as due to the functional drawbacks that were faced by the tenants due to the heavy-duty hydrant system, the building owner was asked to provide a sprinkler system also.
Minimum tenant disturbance with CPVC fire sprinkler system
At first, building owners turned to what they all have been using – a fire sprinkler system with GI pipes. Later, the complexity of welding, installing and testing of GI sprinkler pipes were also highlighted. To mitigate this, they planned to work on off days. Their technical and admin teams soon realized that in this real-world scenario, usage of GI piping will make work scheduling unviable, and the project will run for months.
