Project Overview
Located in the heart of Manchester, the Echo Street development is designed to cater to the modern student lifestyle, offering high quality residential facilities in one of the UK’s most sought after student communities. The project comprises three high-rise blocks, with each block varying in height and integrated via a linking structure.
Tasked with designing, supplying, and installing an effective fire protection system, Besseges turned to BlazeMaster CPVC piping due to its proven reliability and adherence to stringent safety standards. All installations were conducted in line with the BS 9251:2021 rules for residential occupancies and relevant BS EN 12845 LPCB regulations, ensuring comprehensive fire safety.
Working with BlazeMaster CPVC Systems
The choice to specify BlazeMaster CPVC systems was driven by Besseges' confidence in the product, based on many successful installations and Blazemasters unrivalled 40 year track record in low hazard new build. The decision reflects a commitment to reliability and performance, crucial for ensuring building safety in densely populated residential environments.
BlazeMaster CPVC systems offer multiple benefits that are particularly advantageous for student accommodations:

Durability
Known for its resilience, BlazeMaster CPVC piping offers long-term reliability, reducing the need for planned preventative maintenance and ensuring consistent performance for the design life of the building.
Why BlazeMaster CPVC for Student Accommodation?
BlazeMaster CPVC piping systems offer significant advantages for high-rise student accommodation, particularly in densely populated buildings where fire safety is paramount:
Enhanced Installation Efficiency
Improved Space
Utilisation
Superior Performance and Safety
With a higher Hazen-Williams C Factor of 150 (compared to 120 for steel), BlazeMaster CPVC pipes offer better flow rates, enhancing the system's efficiency in distributing water during emergencies. Furthermore, no hot works permit is required for installation, minimising safety risks associated with traditional installation methods and reducing the risk of onsite injuries.
Durability
and
Longevity
Unlike steel, which is prone to corrosion, BlazeMaster CPVC systems are corrosion-resistant, ensuring long-term durability and reducing maintenance requirements. Additionally, third-party testing confirms that BlazeMaster CPVC is stronger and more durable compared to generic CPVC options, providing a reliable fire protection solution over the building’s lifetime.
Comprehensive Support and Training
BlazeMaster offers extensive support and training through their FBC System Compatible Program and online resources. The brand provides free consulting and comprehensive training for installers, ensuring that the systems are fitted correctly and adhere to safety standards. This support gives building managers and local authorities confidence that these systems will deliver optimum performance.
The Result

“As always, our project was defined by effective coordination and precise planning. Detailed design coordination and robust communication with Project Managers and stakeholders were pivotal to meeting project timelines and maintaining high-quality standards.
Operating as a Level 4 approved LPCB sprinkler installer, we assure that all fire protection systems comply with the current UK safety standards. This made BlazeMaster CPVC Systems a welcome and sensible choice for preserving student safety.”
