Third Party Certification for Fitters is More Important Than Ever

If you are a follower of this blog, you likely have read the 24 September post that discusses the proposals made and actions taken by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government that recommend lowering the building height for sprinkler requirements in new structures to approximately 10 floors and added new measures for resident safety.

An August post, Fire Protection Systems for Historic Buildings, was one of our best-read and received many comments on my LinkedIn page since the blog’s inception in the spring of 2018.

The demand for tower block system retrofits remains strong. Given the fact that the majority of the nation’s more than 4,000 tower blocks are not protected by sprinkler systems, that demand is likely to be strong for some time to come.

All of this leads me to believe that demand for qualified fitters will continue to grow. That also means that certification for fitters is more important than ever.

Giving Yourself the Edge in Attracting New Business

Tower block owners, registered social landlords, builders, developers architects and specifiers are seeking experienced fitters. This is not a time to lose what could be a lucrative contract due to lack of training.

Below are several schemes from which to choose in regard to certification:

BlazeMaster® Fire Protection Systems should only be installed by certified installers. Our manufacturing partners, Tyco/Johnson Controls and Viking, also provide product-specific in-person training to accredited installers, which provide excellent secondary credentials beyond third-party accreditation.

Keeping Current with Training

As your business grows, you will naturally add new employees. It is not practical to assume that all of them be certified, and it may take some time to attain certification. A good plan of attack is to pair them with your top installers as they learn on the job. A worthwhile consideration would also be after-hours training among your staff.

We can help with recommendations and suggestions regarding training. Partnering with BlazeMaster Fire Protection Systems, the most specified nonmetallic fire sprinkler systems in the world, is an advantage on which you can always rely.
