Save a Life and Our Way of Life with BlazeMaster

Major changes to UK building legislation announced this Spring, require a great deal of preparation from the construction industry today. BlazeMaster Fire Protection Systems are preparing Architects for tomorrow with fast installation and quick painless retrofitting. And there’s soon to be a great deal of it.

Change is Coming

As of the 26th November 2020, installation of fire sprinklers and wayfinding signage will be mandatory in all blocks of flats over 11 metres tall. The limit has been decreased significantly from 30 metres to 11, which means apartment buildings of just three stories will be affected.

  • 63,000 apartments nationwide each year
  • Approximately 1,680 buildings each year
  • 15,940 new builds in the next 10 years

That’s at least 63,000 sets of sprinkler heads which need installing, and it’s up to you to figure out how they get there.

New Compliance

In addition to this monumental task, construction professionals, building owners and fire safety engineers have new responsibilities:

  • Compliance incentives
  • Building Safety Regulators to be appointed
  • Sanctions and prosecution for non-compliance
  • New website for sales and remortgaging to be launched

With an intensified schedule of roles and responsibilities across the building and housing industries as a result of this new legislation, it’s important that you know your fire sprinkler technology meets the requirements and specifications. This is not a quick fix; it is a fundamental change in the way we approach safety in multifamily occupancies.

BlazeMaster Fire Protection Systems are already in place in many high-rise buildings across the UK, such as Barton Village in Manchester. They are listed for use in the following Light Hazard and Ordinary Hazard occupancies:

Light Hazard

  • Residential
  • Domestic
  • Offices
  • Educational Buildings

Ordinary Hazard

  • Hospitals
  • Hotels
  • Restaurants

BlazeMaster CPVC is listed against the following certifications and standards, for use in the UK and Europe:

  • WRAS potable water certification
  • LCPB UK approved
  • Red Book listed
  • Standards BS EN 12845 (Europe)
  • Standards BS 9251 (UK)

Why is CPVC Up to the Challenge?

CPVC is the most specified non-metallic fire safety material in the world because of its high performance under extreme heat and pressure. However, what really gives BlazeMaster CPVC the advantage under these demanding circumstances, is the way it can be installed.

Keeping Disruption to a Minimum

BlazeMaster CPVC can be installed safely in the next room, without disrupting the project timeline by relocating occupants. The solvent cement method of installation creates a strong, permanent joint, fusing pipes and fittings at the molecular level without the need for hazardous, heat welding tools. Minimising disruption during installation makes for more flexible planning as projects take place all over the country at the same time.

Design for Disruption-free Living

BlazeMaster CPVC pipes are able to perform under intense pressures at smaller sizes, enabling designers to position sprinkler systems in places that are hard to reach and even harder to see. Sprinkler heads can be installed as pendant, sidewall or upright fittings to allow maximum flexibility, creating safety in every room without compromising on how that room is intended for use.

Protecting our Way of Life

Plan your next retrofit project with BlazeMaster CPVC, for a distraction-free way of rising to the challenge of this exciting new legislation. Deliver safety to residents who need it, without disturbing their way of life.
